Umjetni orao

Umjetni orao

Pavao Pavličić

Radovan Orlak is found dead. It appears he jumped out of a window. Suicide? Or was it a well-hidden murder? His friends embark on a private investigation in which they uncover many secrets.

The professor, the narrator of the story, leads a quiet and secluded life in an apartment building until he notices strange behavior from his neighbors. When one of the residents dies inexplicably, the professor finds himself at the center of an investigation. Trying to figure out what is happening, he uncovers a secret related to the "artificial eagle" - a model of a bird mentioned in the story, symbolizing the human obsession with control and power. The investigation leads him through the complex relationships between the residents, where everyone is hiding a secret, and issues of trust, selfishness and human nature come to the surface. As the plot progresses, the professor confronts his own prejudices and weaknesses, while at the same time discovering the bigger picture of the crime and the motives that caused it. The novel ends with the realization that the world is not black and white and that truth often depends on perspective. "The Artificial Eagle" is both a detective story and an allegory about human behavior in a community.
