Trentov posljednji slučaj

Trentov posljednji slučaj

E. C. Bentley

The story is set in England at the beginning of the 20th century. The main character, Philip Trent, is an artist and amateur detective who works as a journalist for the London newspaper The Record.

Trent is known for his shrewdness and unconventional approach to solving crimes. When Sigsbee Manderson, a powerful American financier, is found dead at his Hampshire estate under suspicious circumstances, Trent is called upon to investigate the case for his newspaper. Manderson was shot, and the death appears to be a suicide at first glance, but the details point to a possible murder. Trent begins the investigation, questioning key characters: Manderson's young wife Mabel, who appears distant; his business associates, including secretaries Marlo and Banard; and other household members. Trent's investigation reveals a complex web of motives: business intrigue, a love triangle, and personal vendettas. He uses deductive methods, but also intuition, while falling in love with Mabel Manderson, which complicates his objectivity.
