Umjetnost na tlu Jugoslavije: renesansa u Hrvatskoj i Sloveniji

Umjetnost na tlu Jugoslavije: renesansa u Hrvatskoj i Sloveniji

Radovan Ivančević, Kruno Prijatelj, Anđela Horvat, Nace Šumi

The book shows how the Renaissance in Croatia and Slovenia was not just a copy of Italian models, but an original synthesis of domestic and foreign influences, making it an important part of European artistic heritage.

The author explains how the Renaissance, which originated in Italy, gradually spread to the eastern coast of the Adriatic and inland, adapting to local conditions and traditions. He emphasizes the importance of cultural and trade ties with Italy, especially with Venice, which strongly influenced architecture, sculpture and painting. Ivančević analyzes key monuments and artists, such as Juraj Dalmatinac, Nikola Firentinac and Andrija Aleši, emphasizing their role in shaping the specific regional expression of the Renaissance. He pays special attention to the construction of cathedrals, palaces and public buildings, where a combination of Gothic tradition and new Renaissance elements can be seen. In the Slovenian region, the author shows a more modest, but still significant, development of the Renaissance, mainly in architecture and influences from neighboring areas.
