Vorträge und Aufsätze
Published in 1954, the collection brings together some of Heidegger's most important short texts from his middle and late period. In these texts, Heidegger develops key ideas about technology, art, language, and man's relationship to Being.
One of the most famous essays, "The Question of Technology" (Die Frage nach der Technik), analyzes the essence of technology. Technology is not just a means, but a way of discovering the world that threatens to reduce everyone to "resources", including man himself. However, it is precisely in this danger that the possibility of a new, deeper relationship to Being lies hidden.
In the essay "The Origin of the Work of Art" (Der Ursprung des Kunstwerkes), Heidegger explores how art discovers Being. A work of art is not just an object, but opens up the world and allows the truth to shine through.
The text "Letter on Humanism" (Brief über den Humanismus) answers the question of the role of man in relation to Being. Heidegger criticizes traditional humanist ideas and advocates a return to a more fundamental, humble understanding of human essence - man as the guardian of Being, not its master.
Throughout the collection, Heidegger calls for thoughtful thinking that goes beyond technical rationality and returns to the original listening to Being. "Vorträge und Aufsätze" are a summary of Heidegger's more mature philosophy and an introduction to his later thoughts.
