Charles Perrault

Charles Perrault may have written only 11 children's stories, but despite his modest oeuvre, he is considered one of the world's greatest children's writers.

The stories he wrote, which were not only enjoyed by children, were based on folk tales. Some of them were taken over by the Brothers Grimm, and some were passed down orally. The fairy tales with which he became famous: "Puss in Boots", "Little Red Riding Hood", "Cinderella" and "Bluebeard". He published the first fairy tale "Sleeping Beauty" in 1696.
