Naši vrganji: Pouzdan vodič za branje vrganja s ključem i tabelom boja

Ivan Focht

A specialized mycological handbook dedicated to boletus, a favorite edible mushroom of the genus Boletus. Focht, a philosopher and passionate mycologist, provides a detailed guide to identifying and picking boletus in Yugoslavia, with a focus on Croatia.

The book is intended for mushroom pickers, from beginners to experienced, combining scientific precision with practicality. The guide contains descriptions of 30 species of boletus, including the most famous such as the summer boletus (Boletus aestivalis), the autumn boletus (Boletus edulis) and the red boletus (Boletus luridus).

Each species is accompanied by characteristics of the caps, stems, tubes and habitats, with an emphasis on distinguishing edible from potentially toxic species. Of particular value lies in the identification key and color chart, which helps to recognize boletus by the shades of the caps and tubes, often key to accurate determination.

Focht warns of caution when picking, as some species can cause digestive disorders if improperly prepared. The book includes advice on habitats (forests, meadows, altitude) and seasonal picking. Illustrations and photographs further facilitate identification. Focht's poetic style and love of nature permeate the text, making Our Boletus not only a useful, but also an inspiring work for mushroom lovers.
