The book Vox Populi, which consists of over 12,500 proverbs painstakingly collected by Tomislav Radić, is a unique collection of wisdom from peoples and nationalities from all over the world, from the Adyghe, Altai, Amhara, Aphaz, Buryat, Chuvash to the Chinese, English, French, Germans, Russians and of course Croatians.
The proverbs are arranged alphabetically by topic: appetite, beatings, escape, god, wealth, pain, sick person... marriage, life, etc., with the addition of some classified in a special group: advice, folk humor, one hundred and one valuable each, and pickers. In the book you can check who digs whose pit, who spins black wool, who wakes early, and whether Latin or Chinese proverbs are better, because as the Czechs say: A proverb comes from reason, and reason from a proverb.
The book begins with wisdom: "I will tell my own story, but whether it will dawn is not my business," emphasizing individual responsibility. Radić promotes proverbs as a universal language of wisdom, useful for folklore research, literature, and everyday thinking.
