Neolit i eneolit u Slavoniji

Stojan Dimitrijević, Bogdan Brukner, Nikola Tasić, Vladimir Mirosavljević

The proceedings of the Symposium "Neolithic and Eneolithic in Slavonia", held in Vukovar on 4–5 June 1966, bring together contributions on Neolithic and Eneolithic cultures, material finds and regional connections.

Symposium Neolithic and Eneolithic in Slavonia the publication was issued on the occasion of a professional meeting held in Vukovar on 4 and 5 June 1966, organized by the Vukovar City Museum, Matica hrvatska Vinkovci–Vukovar–Ilok and the Archaeological Society of Yugoslavia. The collection brings together works dedicated to the research of Neolithic and Eneolithic cultures in the area of Slavonia and their place in the wider cultural and historical context of southeastern Europe.

The content includes several professional contributions that consider key issues of prehistoric archaeology. Among the topics highlighted are the Slavonian area as the western fringe area of the Neolithic, the problem of the origin and development of the Vučedol culture in Yugoslavia, the relations between the Vučedol and Kostolac cultural groups, and the elements and connections of material culture between Slavonia and the Adriatic area. The authors of the papers, including Stojan Dimitrijević, Bogdan Brukner, Nikola Tasić and Vladimir Mirosavljević, present the results of research, interpretations of archaeological findings and theoretical considerations important for understanding prehistoric communities.

The publication is an important source for studying the Neolithic and Eneolithic in Croatia and neighboring areas because it documents the state of research in the mid-20th century and provides insights into the then-current scientific debates on cultural processes, migrations and mutual influences of prehistoric cultures. The collection represents valuable literature for archaeologists, historians, students and all those interested in the prehistory of Slavonia, the Vučedol culture and the development of early agricultural and metallurgical communities in the Danube region.
