Junaci Domovinskog rata #1

Junaci Domovinskog rata #1

Davor Runtić

The book brings authentic testimonies and biographies of prominent Croatian defenders and a detailed account of the key struggles and fates of individuals in the most difficult days of Croatia's defense during 1991.

The first book in the famous documentary-historical series Heroes of the Homeland War by Davor Runtić is dedicated to a real and unvarnished account of the people who bore the brunt of the creation and defense of the Republic of Croatia.

This volume deals with the lives and war paths of ten prominent participants and heroes: Marijan Horvatić, Ivo Lelas, Ante Špar, Petar Vukić, Mladen Karlić, Tihomir Vrdoljak, Nenad Mirković, Andrija Andabak, Marijofil Andrijanić and Miha Caput. Through their biographies and personal testimonies, the courage of volunteers from various battlefields across Croatia is shown - from the Slavonian plains and anti-tank battles to the Adriatic and southern battlefields.

The author, himself a war correspondent, reconstructs crucial war episodes through rich material, statements from survivors and records. The focus is on the fate of people who grew up to become true defenders. The book describes their dedication, moral strength, and the heavy human sacrifices made for freedom.

Thanks to fieldwork and faithful testimonies, Runtić's work remains a lasting and extremely valuable monument to the history of the homeland and an indispensable read about the people who created Croatian independence.
