One of the greatest works of world literature and the pinnacle of Dostoevsky's genius. The novel follows Prince Lev Nikolayevich Myshkin, a man "absolutely beautiful" and innocent as a child, who returns to Russia after being treated in Switzerland. His pure soul, deep humanity and Christian love for his neighbor come into conflict with the corrupt, greedy and cynical high society of St. Petersburg.

At the center of the story are three women - Aglaya Yepanchina, Nastasya Filippovna and General Yepanchina - and several men obsessed with money, power and revenge. Dostoevsky masterfully interweaves dramas of passion, ideological conflicts, epilepsy, madness and moral dilemmas, raising eternal questions about the nature of good and evil, faith and atheism, beauty and ruin.
