Die Vampirschwestern: Eine Freundin zum Anbeißen

Die Vampirschwestern: Eine Freundin zum Anbeißen

Franziska Gehm

Daka and Silvania, half-vampire twin sisters, move from Transylvania to Germany. They must adjust to human life, school, and find a friend - without revealing their secret.

The first part of the popular German series Franziske Gehm, intended for girls aged 10 and up. The book follows the fun and chaotic adventures of two half-vampire twin sisters – Daka and Silvania Tepes – who move with their family from the dark Transylvania to the ordinary German town of Bindburg.

Their father Mihai is a real vampire, and their mother Elvira is an ordinary human woman who wants to make her dream come true – to open a toilet seat shop. For the girls, it is a complete culture shock: instead of flying at night and sleeping during the day, they now have to go to a normal school, wake up in the morning, are not allowed to fly and must be careful not to reveal their vampire habits (such as sharp teeth or a desire for blood).

The sisters are completely different: Silvania is romantic, feminine and adapts quickly to people, while Daka is rebellious, sporty and hates the new life. Both desperately want a friend so that they feel accepted and do not persuade their father to return to Transylvania. At school they meet Helene, a girl with her own secret problem, and Jake, with whom Silvania falls in love.

The book is full of funny situations – from meeting a suspicious neighbor who becomes a vampire hunter, to the father's attempt to protect the family in his own vampire way, to the everyday mishaps of adjusting to the human world. Gehm masterfully combines humor, mild tension, and messages about accepting differences, friendship, and family.
